To Whom It May Concern,
Faye Weng did a fantastic job of helping me sell my home of 13 years in San Mateo, not only did we have four offers from qualified buyers (with great credit scores) within ten days, but I ended up with a higher price than I asked.
Faye was the first realtor I interviewed. I'd never sold a house before, and had lots of questions; what were the most cost-effective upgrades to make the place marketable, how would we market its unique features, how much should I ask, how soon would it sell, what were my legal and financial obligations, should I show it vacant or furnished, how hard was she willing to negotiate on my behalf, and so on. Faye was patient, friendly, knowledgeable, and articulate, but what I appreciated most was her ability and willingness genuinely to listen to my concerns and address them thoughtfully and without a sales pitch. Her gentle, confident sense of humor didn't hurt either.
I interviewed three other realtors, and noticed immediately that most of their replies were canned. They didn't seem able to listen to and address my concerns with anything more than flippant nervous "trust me" come backs. Very little they said or did inspired trust, nor were they able to provide references who shared my situation. Even though they all offered to discount their commission for me. I was relieved to see them go, Faye didn't discount her commission, and in the end I understood why she doesn't need to.
By comparison with her competitors, Faye proved well-informed, focused, and calmly self-assured. She was patient with my decision-making process (whereas all the others hounded me mercilessly for my business), replied promptly and helpfully to my calls and late night emails, kept me apprised, set my expectations appropriately, and didn't waste my time. There were no unpleasant surprises throughout the entire transaction, no "uh-oh" moments.
Within a week of putting my house on the market, Faye had two full-priced offers. Within three more days we had two more, one of which was over the asking price. Faye researched the would be buyers credit scores and was able to assure me that I had nothing to fear. When negotiating on my behalf, I felt she did a fine job walking a fine line between getting top dollar and alienating the buyers. I felt well-represented and comfortable that she was helping me cover all the bases.
From my perspective, Faye outshone her competitors with her listening skills, reliability, and diligence. I always enjoyed our interactions, never sensed that I was getting biased advice, and felt that she repeatedly earned my trust by delivering exactly as she promised. Her intelligence, personality, and sense of humor made the process of selling my home much more pleasant than I had anticipated.
